Ambassador: U.S.-Armenia ties stronger than ever

U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien has declared that Armenian-American relations are now “deeper and stronger than ever,” emphasizing that this year’s progress in strategic partnership is only the first step. She made the remarks during a speech at the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia, focusing on U.S. policy priorities and new opportunities for business collaboration.

“Under the visionary leadership of President Trump, we’ve made significant strides in bilateral relations and in advancing regional peace and stability—progress that just a year ago may have seemed impossible,” Kvien said, according to Aysor.am .

She highlighted the August 8 summit at the White House, where President Trump hosted Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. “That summit marked a turning point in our relations; there is no going back from here,” she said.

Thanks to bold and creative diplomacy, the parties have tackled long-standing challenges that had blocked progress for decades. “This breakthrough will benefit countries from Central Asia to Western Europe, but no country stands to gain more than Armenia,” Kvien stated.

During the historic summit, Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed a mutually agreed draft text of a bilateral peace treaty. The U.S. continues to strongly support the final signing and ratification of the agreement and will remain committed to this goal.

On August 8, at a trilateral summit in the White House, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Donald Trump, and President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration. At the same time, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the three leaders, initialed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
