On the morning of December 29, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II visited Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, head of the Shirak Diocese, who is currently hospitalized at Izmirlyan Medical Center, according to the hospital’s press representative Anna Demirchyan, Aysor.am reports.
The visit was short, and the hospital noted that the archbishop’s condition is stable but he remains under close medical supervision.
Archbishop Ajapahyan recently underwent surgery at the same hospital.
He was sentenced to two years in prison on October 3 for making public calls to overthrow the government, a charge he denies.
