Armenia, Iran discuss regional unblocking initiatives

On January 8, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan met with a delegation led by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi. The discussions focused on issues related to the unblocking of regional transport links.

Both sides highlighted the importance of continued development of North–South transport infrastructure, viewing it as a mutually beneficial initiative for Armenia and Iran.

Grigoryan emphasized the Armenian government’s consistent and goal-oriented approach to implementing the Crossroads of Peace initiative, underscoring its significance.

He also praised the steady development of Armenian-Iranian relations across political, economic, cultural, and security sectors.

The two parties reaffirmed their mutual readiness to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic level.

The Armenian government has developed and presented the Crossroads of Peace project, aimed at enhancing communications among Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Iran through the repair, construction, and operation of roads, railways, pipelines, cables, and power lines. All infrastructure, including roads, railways, air routes, pipelines, cables, and power lines, will operate under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the respective countries through which they pass.
