Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia described summoning Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II to court as unacceptable and reprehensible.
Aram I said he and Karekin II remain in constant contact and regularly consult on issues concerning the homeland and the Armenian people, the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia reports.
“We expressed our profound indignation to His Holiness Garegin and even suggested that he not appear in court and send his representative instead.
We call on state officials to treat our Church and the person of His Holiness with respect and to address issues within the bounds of mutual understanding and propriety, while respecting the laws of the state and the internal order and rules of the Church,” Aram I said in his statement.
