U.S. President Donald Trump said he believes the war with Iran will end soon, while also addressing issues involving ammunition supplies for the U.S. armed forces.
“I think it’s going to end pretty soon. I don’t think they can go on too much longer,” he said, Reuters reports.
Reuters earlier reported that during the five-month war with Iran, the U.S. military had used a significant portion of global stocks of long-range precision-guided missiles. Asked about the state of ammunition supplies, Trump said stocks of certain types of weapons were nearly unlimited but acknowledged that supplies of others were more limited.
“We have certain types of very powerful ammunition where the supply is unlimited, almost unlimited. We also have other types where supplies are somewhat more limited,” Trump said.
Trump also said U.S. defense companies had built new production plants, including facilities designed to manufacture Patriot and Tomahawk missiles.
