Armenian wushu athletes won a total of 37 medals at the Batumi International Open Championship held in Georgia from July 30 to August 4.
The Traditional Wushu Federation of Armenia traveled to the competition with a 44-member delegation. It included 36 athletes, six competing in taolu and 30 in sanda.
The Armenian team won a total of 37 medals at the tournament — 27 in sanda and 10 in taolu, Factor.am reports.
In the junior taolu competition, Artashes Alaverdyan placed first in Nandao, or sword, second in Double Daggers, and third in Choy Li Fut, or fist techniques. Alisa Aleksandrovskaya finished second in both Double Daggers and Choy Li Fut. Arvani Rudova placed second in Chanquang 32.
Among younger competitors, Gevorg Parsadanyan took first place in Nangun, or staff, and Nandao, or sword, and second place in Nanquan, or fist techniques. Mels Aidinyan finished third in Daoshu, or sword.
In the adult sanda competition, Zhirayr Petrosyan placed third in the 56 kg weight category, Ruben Margaryan finished third at 65 kg, while Davit Vardanyan won the 70 kg category.
In the youth competition, Davit Hovhannisyan took first place in the 52 kg category, while Rafael Arakelyan finished third in the same weight class.
Among juniors, Andranik Khosrovyan placed second in the 36 kg category, while Arsen Simonyan finished third. Seryozha Asatryan won the 39 kg category, with Tigran Chilingaryan finishing second. Eduard Sargsyan took second place at 42 kg, while Samvel Tadevosyan finished third.
Grisha Alikhanyan won the 45 kg category, while Alen Davtyan finished second. Tigran Melkonyan won at 48 kg, while Karo Baghramyan placed third. Sargis Yeritsyan took second place in the 52 kg category.
Pavel Mangasaryan won the 60 kg category. Mikayel Alaverdyan at 68 kg and Zhora Hovhannisyan at 72 kg also claimed first place.
In the 9-11 age group, Arman Terzikyan won the 26 kg category, while Ashot Tadevosyan placed third at 28 kg. Artyom Yeghiazaryan won the 30 kg category, with Ararat Isoyan finishing second in the same weight class. Mher Navasardyan and Robert Poghosyan both placed third in the 34 kg category.
Among 7-8-year-olds, Mher Darbinyan won the 26 kg category, while Tigran Poghosyan took first place at 32 kg.
