Former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan’s son, former head of the Artashat community and former member of parliament Argam Abrahamyan, has been remanded in custody for two months. The Investigative Committee confirmed the decision, Factor.am reports.
On August 8, the Investigative Committee said Argam Abrahamyan had been detained on suspicion of ordering a killing.
According to the Investigative Committee, Abrahamyan ordered the killing that took place on April 30, 2023, near the entrance of a building on Myasnikyan Avenue in Yerevan.
The Investigative Committee said that planned and comprehensive evidentiary and procedural actions established that Abrahamyan suspected his wife of having a personal relationship with a pastor who was a member of the «Christians of Evangelical Faith» religious organization, as well as of providing him with large sums of money.
According to law enforcement authorities, motivated by revenge, Abrahamyan decided to have the pastor killed and carried out his plan through a security employee.
