The ninth convocation of Armenia’s National Assembly will have 12 standing committees.
The Strong Armenia faction has selected the standing committees on Financial and Budgetary Affairs, Territorial Administration and Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection, and European Integration to nominate candidates for their chairmanships, Aysor.am reports.
The Civil Contract faction selected the Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the Committee on Defense and Security, the Committee on Education, the Committee on Health Affairs, the Committee on Foreign Relations, and the Committee on Labor and Welfare.
The Hayastan alliance selected the Committee on Human Rights.
Taking into account the proportion of lawmakers in the factions represented in parliament, the maximum number of members of standing committees has been set at eight: five from Civil Contract, two from Strong Armenia and one from the Hayastan faction.
Civil Contract holds 64 seats in the National Assembly, Strong Armenia has 29, and the Hayastan alliance has 12.
