National Assembly Deputy Speaker Aram Vardevanyan said during a Facebook broadcast that “concrete solutions will be presented regarding the issue of political prisoners.”
“To this day, Samvel Karapetyan remains under house arrest without any legal basis. We will present concrete solutions, and no one, at any moment, should lose the conviction that we must have a strong Armenia,” he said.
Vardevanyan said there are substantive problems in the work of the National Assembly, adding that, in the view of the political force he represents, programs and issues that change people’s living conditions should be discussed.
He noted that the institutional formation of the newly elected National Assembly is still underway.
On Aug. 10, Aram Vardevanyan, an MP from the Strong Armenia parliamentary faction, was elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. Arusyak Manavazyan, head of the National Assembly’s Civil Contract faction, had said that Civil Contract would provide enough votes for Vardevanyan to be elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
