Noyemberyan mayor freed following Anti-Corruption Committee questioning

Noyemberyan community head Arsen Aghababyan has been released, Mesrop Arakelyan, a member of the Country to Live party, said in a Facebook post.

“Arsen Aghababyan was released after being questioned by the Anti-Corruption Committee,” Arakelyan wrote.

News of Aghababyan’s detention emerged on the evening of August 31. The Anti-Corruption Committee had confirmed his detention. The committee provided no further details, citing the interests of the preliminary investigation, Factor.am reported.

Arsen Aghababyan is a member of the Country to Live party.

Arsen Aghababyan was elected head of the Noyemberyan community following local elections held in December 2021, after the opposition Country to Live and For the Republic parties formed a coalition.
