A meeting between Armenian Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan and Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev took place in Bishkek on September 1, the Armenian Security Council Office said.
“Following the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Armenian Security Council secretary and the Azerbaijani presidential aide continued discussions on the peace agenda,” the statement said.
This was Simonyan’s first meeting with Aliyev’s aide since assuming the post of Security Council secretary.
On June 14 in Dilijan, then-Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan met Hikmet Hajiyev, foreign policy adviser to the Azerbaijani president. The sides issued identically worded statements saying they “discussed issues related to the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda during the talks and emphasized the importance of continuing direct bilateral dialogue.”
