Deepening peace was the key topic on the agenda of a meeting in Bishkek between Armenian Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan and Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev.
Talking to reporters, Simonyan also did not rule out the possibility of traveling to Azerbaijan. Such a meeting had previously been planned when Armen Grigoryan served as secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, according to Aysor.am.
“I do not rule out making such a visit, but I cannot give any timeframe,” Simonyan said.
He said that during his meeting with Hajiyev, the two sides agreed to introduce new mechanisms to make it possible to resolve issues that have remained unsettled.
“I can gladly note that the Azerbaijani side is taking and will continue to take all steps related to peace,” Simonyan said.
Armenian Security Council Secretary Alen Simonyan and Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev met in Bishkek on Sept. 1.
On June 14 in Dilijan, then-Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan met with Azerbaijani presidential foreign policy adviser Hikmet Hajiyev. The sides issued identical statements saying that “during the talks, they discussed issues related to the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda and emphasized the importance of continuing direct bilateral dialogue.”
