Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks on Russia’s 102nd military base by quoting renowned Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov.
“Are you a man or a woman? (Bulgakov, ‘Heart of a Dog’),” Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel, commenting on media reports about Pashinyan’s position, RIA Novosti reported.
Earlier, following a meeting with Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that if Yerevan believes the military base stationed in Gyumri is unnecessary, the Russian side is ready to leave as early as the next day and will not impose anything on anyone. Later in Yerevan, commenting on that statement, Pashinyan said Yerevan would not object if Russia decided to withdraw the military base from Armenian territory, but at the same time was ready to discuss the matter if Moscow decided to keep it.
