Mirzoyan visits Bovo GAS biomethane plant

Armenian Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ararat Mirzoyan visited the Bovo GAS biogas production plant, toured its production facilities and learned about the biogas production process and technological solutions used there.

Company founder and owner Mkhitar Mkhitaryan, Armenia’s honorary consul in Latvia, presented Bovo GAS operations and its entire production chain to the minister. He also discussed the company’s contribution to the development of the Baltic countries’ energy system, as well as completed and ongoing projects.

It was noted that Bovo GAS is a unique high-quality biomethane production plant operating in Latvia since March 2024. It purifies biogas, with the resulting biomethane supplied directly to Latvia’s natural gas network.

The project was highlighted as one of the best examples of converting agricultural waste into renewable energy. Alongside biogas production, the production chain encompasses activities ranging from egg production to the manufacture of high-quality fertilizer.

During the tour, the sides discussed opportunities for exchanging expertise, as well as prospects for developing biogas production in Armenia. In this context, Mirzoyan stressed that strengthening energy resilience and diversifying energy sources are among the Armenian government’s priorities.
