Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan met with executives of major retail chain Bluemart in Dubai, he said on his Facebook page.
The minister said Bluemart is a leading hypermarket and supermarket chain founded in the Middle East, offering a wide range of high-quality products from countries around the world. The company is also developing its online sales business.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation with Bluemart, as well as opportunities to ensure the presence of Armenian products in the retail chain’s hypermarkets.
Earlier, it was announced that exports of fresh fruit and vegetables from Armenia to the United Arab Emirates had already begun, initially at volumes of up to 40 tons per week. Export volumes are expected to increase at later stages. Armenia’s Economy Ministry said the exports were organized under a memorandum of understanding signed on Aug. 27 with Dubai-founded company Watermelon Ecosystem.
