Armenia, Azerbaijan could delimit border along TRIPP route

Armenia and Azerbaijan may delimit the section of their interstate border through which TRIPP will pass, National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Chairman Sargis Khandanyan told reporters during a briefing at parliament.

“When TRIPP begins to be implemented on the ground, there is a possibility that partial delimitation work will be carried out in sections where, for example, the railway will pass, oil and gas pipelines will be built, or power transmission lines will be installed. In other words, there may be a certain change in approach regarding very localized sections, but the overall approach is that delimitation should be carried out from north to south,” he said.

On Sept. 9, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, commenting on border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said the countries had agreed to continue delimitation work from north to south, starting from the junction of the borders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia and Azerbaijan had agreed that delimitation would proceed from north to south and that, wherever delimitation was completed, the border would be formally established there.
