At the first meeting of the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense and Security, Hayastan faction member and Armenian Revolutionary Federation politician Gegham Manukyan urged his newly elected colleagues to obtain security clearance and review the report prepared by the parliamentary inquiry commission formed during the previous National Assembly to examine the circumstances of the 44-day war.
According to the opposition politician, the report, which ultimately never saw the light of day, contains several noteworthy layers and striking findings, Panorama.am reports.
“In particular, our committee expert, Armed Forces Colonel Vahan Avetisyan, is present in the room, and he has much to say about this, but unfortunately we cannot do so in an open session. Unfortunately, I have no right to disclose those details; otherwise, our society’s eyes would open much wider. The $48 million worth of scrap metal that Nikol Pashinyan talks about raises countless questions. I am confident it will be a matter of one or two days: obtain security clearance and make sure to read it. It is a substantial report, and many questions are addressed there,” he said.
The committee’s Civil Contract chairman, Vilen Gabrielyan, responded by suggesting that Manukyan consider an initiative that would allow the public to familiarize itself with the report.
The report of the National Assembly inquiry commission investigating the circumstances of the 44-day war has been sent to the National Assembly archive’s classified section and is not publicly available.
