Armenia to regulate electricity storage facilities

The operation of electricity storage facilities in Armenia will be regulated through new secondary legislation.

On Oct. 1, as part of assistance provided to Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission, another working meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commission Chairman Mesrop Mesropyan with representatives of Kinetic, whose work is financed by the Armenian office of Swiss development organization Helvetas.

The discussion focused on ongoing advisory work provided to the Commission concerning the drafting of secondary legal acts required to regulate the operation of electricity storage facilities following amendments to the Law on Energy.

At the end of the meeting, the issues currently under discussion were clarified and deadlines were outlined for finalizing the results of the ongoing work.

At an Oct. 1 briefing, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia had transformed from a country with surplus energy into one facing an energy deficit, linking this to approved investment projects and the establishment of artificial intelligence factories.
