Armenian NSS denies reports of multiple Azerbaijani infiltrators

Armenia’s National Security Service has denied reports that more than one person entered Armenia, but not a single Azerbaijani national.

“All other reports claiming there were more than one person, saboteurs, and that law enforcement agencies are still conducting search operations are completely unfounded and do not correspond to reality,” the service said in a statement.

The public is urged to follow official statements.

“Considering that false reports are being circulated on various social media platforms, by news outlets and on other public platforms regarding the incident involving Azerbaijani serviceman N. Musayev in the Shaki settlement of Armenia’s Syunik region on October 1 of this year, we consider it necessary to clarify once again that exclusively one person, N. Musayev, illegally crossed the state border of the Republic of Armenia. He has now been remanded in custody by a court decision as part of the criminal proceedings initiated,” the statement said.

On October 1, it became known that Azerbaijani citizen and serviceman Nasimi Musayev had illegally entered house No. 20 on 6th Street in the Shaki settlement of the Sisian community in Syunik region and, after being discovered, fired shots from a weapon. A woman born in 1987 was wounded by the gunfire, while two of her three children were also injured. The Azerbaijani then fled. As a result of measures taken, Nasimi Musayev was found at No. 26 on 6th Street in the Shaki settlement. He was remanded in custody for two months.
