Armenia loses chance to top group after Montenegro draw

Armenia’s national team can no longer finish top of its Nations League group after a 0-0 away draw against Montenegro in the fourth round.

The match in Podgorica was evenly contested, with both teams creating few genuine scoring opportunities. The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 86th minute following the dismissal of Stefan Loncar, a midfielder for Russian club Akron, Factor.am reported.

In the other match in League C Group 2, Cyprus secured a 2-1 home victory over Latvia. After four rounds, Montenegro leads the group with 10 points, followed by Cyprus with seven, Armenia with four and Latvia with one.

Yeghishe Melikyan’s team will play its next match on November 12, hosting Cyprus. Three days later, Armenia will play its final Nations League group-stage match against Latvia.
