Armenia launches new product labeling pilots on November 1

Armenia plans to launch pilot programs for labeling goods using identification tools on November 1, 2026.

The initiative will cover several product categories and is intended to test new mechanisms for recording and monitoring the circulation of goods, the State Revenue Committee reported.

The pilot programs will include the following product groups:

  1. Fire extinguishers, fire safety equipment and pyrotechnic products.
  2. Personal hygiene and other hygiene products.
  3. Bicycles.
  4. Tobacco substitute products.
  5. Household goods.
  6. Cameras, photographic lamps and other related equipment.
  7. Tires, automobile tires, spare parts, lubricants and technical fluids.
  8. Footwear and toys.
  9. Seafood, pasta, other prepared food products, vinegar, confectionery and food additives.
  10. Medical products, veterinary medicines, antiseptics and disinfectants.
  11. Clothing accessories made from natural fur and their labeling.

As part of the pilot programs, product labeling mechanisms and the operation of the information system will be tested and adjusted. The integration of participants’ information systems with the operator’s information system will also be tested.

The trials will cover the entire supply chain for goods subject to labeling, from ordering identification codes to removing products from circulation.

The main objective of the programs is to use new technological solutions to ensure the traceability of goods circulating in Armenia and increase market transparency by preventing the spread of counterfeit and substandard products.

In particular, the initiative aims to reduce unreported commercial activity, establish fair competitive conditions for businesses and protect consumer rights.

At the same time, the introduction of the digital system will help harmonize Armenian regulations with those of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), simplify the movement of goods within the EAEU and promote the development of logistics services.
