United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres attended the ceremonial opening of Armenia’s national pavilion in the COP17 Blue Zone alongside Environment Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan.
The two officials jointly conducted the ceremonial opening of Armenia’s national pavilion. The Ministry of Environment described the opportunity to present Armenia to the UN Secretary-General as a particular honor, highlighting the country’s rich and diverse natural environment, millennia-old history, extensive cultural heritage and distinctive national identity, the ministry reported.
The national pavilion brings together the defining elements of Armenia’s unique identity, including the unparalleled beauty of its natural landscapes, its multifaceted historical and cultural heritage, and the traditions and national values preserved over centuries and passed down through generations.
Throughout the conference, the Armenian pavilion is expected to serve as an important platform for introducing Armenia to the international community. It will provide foreign visitors with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s natural and cultural wealth, discover its distinctive characteristics, establish new partnerships and explore prospects for cooperation across various fields.
The opening of Armenia’s national pavilion has provided another significant opportunity to draw international attention to the country’s rich natural environment, unique culture and historical treasures. At the same time, it offers an opportunity to present Armenia as the host of one of the world’s largest international conferences dedicated to biodiversity conservation.
