Armenian Deputy PM denies enclave agreement with Azerbaijan

No agreement has been reached with Azerbaijan on the issue of enclaves and exclaves, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan told journalists.

“There is no agreement. We make public any issue that is formally discussed or is the subject of working-level discussions,” he said, Aysor.am reported.

Grigoryan also stated that representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan have held a total of 13 meetings so far, with official statements issued following each one.

He added that the issue of enclaves and exclaves had not been discussed during the working meetings. Had such discussions taken place, an official statement would have been released.

On October 14, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that, in his understanding, the enclave and exclave issue between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be resolved through the exchange of territories of precisely corresponding sizes. He stressed that border delimitation and demarcation should be carried out on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration and that Armenia should have a territory of 29,743 square kilometers. The following day, he stated that one of his political priorities was to ensure the signing and ratification of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan by 2031.
