The Gituzh initiative has appealed to the Armenian government, proposing that it work with the National Assembly to resolve the identified discrepancy between the 2027 state budget and the five-year science development strategy. The initiative is calling for the 2027 state budget to allocate in full the funds required to implement the measures scheduled for that year under the strategic program.
In a statement, Gituzh also addressed the government’s October 15 meeting.
“Gituzh welcomes the prime minister’s reaffirmed commitment at the October 15 government meeting to achieving all the goals announced by the government, including the funding targets for research and development (R&D).
“In our October 7 statement, we highlighted the contradiction between the government’s proposed 2027 state budget and its Strategic Program for the Development of Science for 2026–2030,” the statement reads.
An additional approximately 2.36 billion Armenian drams is planned for upgrading scientific centers and funding grant-based research. The corresponding proposal was presented at the government’s October 15 meeting by Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan.
