An Urban Biodiversity Zone will operate for two weeks in Yerevan’s 2750th Anniversary Park, in the city center, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to learn about the capital’s environmental initiatives and participate in various activities. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced the initiative on his Facebook page.
“Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about Yerevan’s environmental programs, participate in workshops and discussions, and enjoy festival film screenings and concert performances,” he wrote.
The mayor said the Leaders’ Summit associated with the international conference had already begun, while Armenia would host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) the following week.
He also noted that the ninth Summit of Local Authorities and Cities is scheduled to take place during the international event.
