Russia-Armenia relations enter phase of readjustment, envoy says

Relations between Armenia and Russia are entering a period of seeking a new balance, Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin said at an event marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Marshal Baghramyan Veterans Association.

“Relations between Russia and Armenia are now at a stage that requires mutual understanding and a search for a new balance. But regardless of the political situation, our shared history, joint victories and the figure of Marshal Baghramyan remain powerful unifying factors for our peoples. It was precisely through unity that we achieved victory in the most difficult war, and these are the foundations we must rely on to confront today’s challenges,” Kopyrkin said, according to the Russian Embassy.

The anniversary event was also attended by Inessa Kudruk, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Republic of Belarus in Armenia, members of the leadership of the Russian House in Yerevan and the Moscow House, as well as representatives of public associations and organizations of compatriots.

Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan has described Armenian-Russian relations as fraternal. He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of COP17.

“I consider Armenia-Russia relations fraternal, the discussions constructive, and the problems solvable,” he said.
