Armenian investigators complete inquiry into alleged paid rally attendance

The preliminary investigation into a criminal case concerning financial inducements offered to rally participants has been completed by the Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to investigators, G.A. informed several acquaintances that each would receive 15,000 Armenian drams for attending a rally organized by the Strong Armenia party at Freedom Square in Yerevan on April 11, 2026.

Following the rally, G.A. paid the promised amounts to several participants.

By decision of the supervising prosecutor, public criminal prosecution was initiated against G.A. under Article 236, Part 2 of the Criminal Code (offering material incentives to induce participation in a public assembly). House arrest, bail and a prohibition on leaving were imposed as preventive measures.

The criminal case, together with the indictment, has been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor.
