The purpose of a visit to Syunik by several officials was to examine the potential layout of infrastructure under the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project on the ground, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said during a government meeting, Sputnik Armenia reported.
On October 21, senior Armenian officials paid a working visit to Syunik Province to discuss preparations for designing infrastructure under the TRIPP project. The delegation included Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Yeghiazar Vardanyan and other officials.
“At this stage, we are talking about the railway, the highway and the routing of energy infrastructure. As far as the railway is concerned, essentially everything is clear. There is nothing new for us. We mainly wanted to examine the condition of the engineering structures on site once again. But I think it is obvious where the railway will run. There is nothing to discuss in that regard,” Grigoryan said.
According to him, design work on the railway will begin soon.
Regarding highways, Grigoryan said there are sections with difficult terrain, and the final solution must ensure that the transit route is competitive.
“The transit route will be competitive, and our expenditures will be efficient, only if it offers an operational advantage at the regional level,” Grigoryan noted.
He added that the situation concerning electricity transmission lines was also clear, although certain issues still needed to be finalized. According to him, design work could already begin on all three infrastructure components.
