Vazgen Tevanyan (65 kg), a member of Armenia’s national freestyle wrestling team, has advanced to the semifinals of the World Wrestling Championships.
In the 65 kg quarterfinals of the World Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana, Tevanyan faced Iran’s two-time world champion Rahman Amouzad Khalili and secured a 3–2 victory, Armenpress reports.
Earlier in the competition, Tevanyan defeated Mongolia’s Zeneemeder Byambasuren 9–3 and Kazakhstan’s Osimzhan Dastanbek 2–1.
