American fighter of Armenian descent Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani defeated previously unbeaten Azerbaijani fighter Farman Hasanov by technical knockout at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Nolan (UFC Vegas 123), held in Las Vegas, United States.
For the 27-year-old welterweight, the result marked his third consecutive victory inside the octagon of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the world’s leading mixed martial arts organization, Panorama.am reports.
Lebosnoyani’s advantage became increasingly evident in the second round. Hasanov’s repeated attempts to take the fight to the ground proved unsuccessful. In response, the Armenian-American fighter intensified the pressure, landing powerful strikes that caused a serious facial injury to Hasanov toward the end of the round.
The decisive moment came in the third round. Due to a deep cut above the Azerbaijani fighter’s left eye, the referee stopped the action, and the doctor who entered the octagon did not allow Hasanov to continue the bout.
Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani has Armenian roots through his father, Nerses Bosnoyan, who is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach. The fighter has spoken about his heritage on numerous occasions, emphasizing that he is proud of his Armenian roots.
