Giovanni Di Stasi: our aim – common European future

Today Armenian National Assembly Chairman Atrur Baghdassaryan met President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Giovanni Di Stasi and the delegation headed by him, RA NA press center reported. RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration Vache Terterian was also present at the meeting. At the quest’s request Artur Baghdassaryan presented the process of the constitutional reform. Having characterized the Armenian parliament as a “house of democracy” Giovanni Di Stasi noted the importance of carrying out the reforms, which, according to him, will promote the improvement of the local self-government system. “Our aim is the creation of common European future”, he said. The parties discussed the possibility of cooperation between the local governing bodies of the three South Caucasian states. The Armenian Speaker noted that after successful conduction of the referendum the Armenian legislation should be brought up to the European standards. Besides, he informed that next April an international conference dedicated to the problems of regional cooperation will be held in Yerevan with the assistance of the European Union.
