The terms of Armenia’s membership in the European Union is the issue of “political ambitions”, RA President administration head Artashes Tumanyan stated today during round-table discussions titled “European Prospects of Armenia”. He said the possibility of Armenia’s EU membership should be considered within next 10-15 years. In his words, the policy of European integration will have no value if it does not get crowned with EU membership. The achievement of this goal should become one of the priority lines for our state, Artashes Tumanyan said. For his part, Armenian FM’s Aide Ashot Voskanyan said “Armenia is not Europe and does not want to become such”. “If the state is viewed as a system it needs modernization to meet European standards and we are dealing with it now,” he noted. At the same time he stressed that Armenia’s domestic life differs greatly from that of Europe.
