RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs refuted reports on intrusion of Russian jets into Georgian airspace.
“Reports that Russian aircrafts attacked Georgia or intruded into the conflict zone are false,” ambassador at large Yuri Popov said. “If escalation continues it will be Georgia’s fault,” he added, RIA Novosti reports.
Rustavi -2 Georgian TV Channel reported that on August 8 morning four Russian fighter jets entered Georgian airspace and bombed the towns of Gori and Kareli near the breakaway region of South Ossetia. One of the jets was shot down, it said.
