The first meeting of RA Public Council has been held today by the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargyan. At the meeting Vazgen Manoukyan was appointed acting chairman of the Council. As stated in the Statute ratified, the Public Council is a body coordinated by the RA President, consisting of 36 members, 12 of which are permanent members. The other 24 members of the Council will be elected in accordance with the procedure and terms indicated in the Statute, i.e. 12 of them must be elected within the nearest 30 days, and the other 12 following another 30 days. The chairman of the Public Council will be elected afterwards and according to various considerations Vazgen Manoukyan will be appointed chairman.
The day before Serzh Sargsyan signed a statute on ratifying the Edict of the Public Council and appointed its members, namely: Robert Amirkhanyan, Anna Asatryan, Lilit Asatryan, Karen Bekaryan, Emil gabrielyan, Anelika Grigoryan, Astghik Gevorgyan, Hayk Demoyan, Hovannes Zanazanyan, Khosrov Haroutyunyan, Vazgen Manoukyan, and Vladimir Movsisyan.
