“AZERI DEMOCRACY” CONSIDERED BY WASHINGTON AS WORST FORM OF AUTHORITARISM

The US State Department in the published the other day annual report on Human Rights observance announced the Azeri leadership to be the embodiment of absolute authoritarism. As “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” Russian newspaper writes, the American administration for the first time characterized the “democratic reality” in Azerbaijan in such sharp expressions. The new fact in the State Department document is that the “Azeri government is submitted to the will of one person, that is the acting president Heydar Aliyev”, who was reelected for this post in the result of “disputable elections in the course of which numerous serious violations were fixed”. In whole, the regime is characterized as corrupt, ineffective and far from civilized democracy.
