OSCE MG Co-Chairs visiting NKR

On October 2, President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakyan received OSCE MG Co-Chairs Robert Bradtke (U.S.), Yuri Merzlyakov (RF) and Bernard Fassier (France). NKR President first congratulated Robert Bradtke on his appointment as and wished him effective work during his mission.

Parties discussed a wide range of issues concerning Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict and regional processes. NKR leader once again stressed the importance of restoring talks to a full format, involving NKR in the process.

Mr. Sahakyan further noted that comprehensive conflict settlement required looking ahead vs. past. Any attempt to return Nagorno Karabakh to its 1988 status and administrative-territorial divisions is fraught with unpredictable consequences, he said. President also focused on the need to carry out active work towards restoring mutual trust between two societies, since parties’ willingness to resolve disputable issues via open dialogue was essential to conflict settlement. Azerbaijan’s aggressive and bellicose policy, according to Sahakyan, was one of the chief impediments in the process. Touching on Armenian-Turkish relations, President noted that the process was not in any way linked with Azerbaijani-Kharabakh conflict settlement, and welcomed Co-Chairs’ statement in that regard. Meeting also focused on the situation in contact line. Negotiations were attended by NKR Foreign Minister Georgy Petrosyan and personal representative of OSCE Chairman-in-Office Anjey Kasprxhik, NKR President’s press service reports.
