On September 21, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian delivered a speech at the UN Summit in New York. He said that Azerbaijan continues rejecting the offer on reaching an agreement on non-use of force or its threat that contradicts the UN principles, the founders of which have united to protect future generations from war horrors.
The RA Foreign Minister reminded that governments are obliged under the Millennium Declaration to do their utmost to prevent peoples from war horrors both inside countries and between states.
"The armament drive continues threatening not only peace and security, but also economic and social development and, unfortunately, there is such threat in South Caucasus. Now we witness Azerbaijan's militant stance, increase in its military budget, bellicose rhetoric and provocations. All this threatens security and stability in the region," the Armenian Foreign Minister said.
Besides, he added that the people of Nagorno Karabakh does its best to create conditions for a more favorable life and to secure human rights protection. "And the NKR people does it without assistance of the international community, waiting for programs of relevant assistance. We cannot state that all goals of millennium development are achieved and equality and justice are secured at the international level, unless the damage caused to innocent people is eliminated," the RA MFA press service quoted Edward Nalbandian as saying.
