Turkish Defense Minister hopes for U.S. Senate to refrain from discussing Armenian Genocide resolution

U.S. government and Congress will show “enough understanding to prevent discussion on Armenian Genocide resolution at Senate sitting”, Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul said.

As he stated in Washington, adoption of Genocide resolution in the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations caused strain in U.S.-Turkish relations.

“13 of 18 conflict zones are located in the vicinity of Turkey. This is why Ankara has to take efforts towards provision of peace and stability,” Milliyet cited Gonul as saying.
