Iran is boosting its radar capabilities to reach out more than 1,850 miles, an Iranian defense official said.
In an interview with the state Fars news agency, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Miqani, commander of the Khatam ol-Anbia air defense base, said work is under way to widen the country's radar coverage.
"If the maximum range of our radar systems was 400 km (248.5 miles) in the past, we have this good news for the people that we have started making a radar system covering an area with the radius of 3,000 km (1,864.1 miles) which can identify all objects flying around the country at low altitudes," Miqani said.
“Work to improve the country's radar capabilities began several years ago, and now active and passive radar systems with different range capabilities and frequencies are being built,” he said, UPI reported.
