An anti-corruption court partially approved the investigator’s request, extending Armen Ashotyan’s house arrest as criminal proceedings against him continue.
The Anti-Corruption Court partially approved the investigator’s motion and extended the house arrest imposed on Armen Ashotyan by one month, his lawyer Ruben Melikyan said.
Ashotyan was initially remanded in custody on June 5 for one month. A subsequent motion was filed seeking an extension of his detention. On June 30, the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal replaced his pretrial detention in prison with house arrest, Factor.am reported.
Ashotyan is accused, within the framework of an ongoing criminal case, of abuse of official authority, aiding and abetting such abuse, money laundering on an especially large scale committed by a group, and aiding and abetting that offense.
He is also a defendant in another criminal case, the investigation of which is still ongoing. Within that case as well, Ashotyan had spent a prolonged period in pretrial detention.
