A protest will be held on August 6 at 12:00 p.m. outside the building of the Supreme Judicial Council (17 Koryun Street) over delays in the consideration of the appeal in the case of Aregnaz Manukyan. The announcement was made by Yerevan City Council member Grigor Iskandaryan on his Facebook page.
“On July 9, 2026, the Court of First Instance, presided over by Judge Manvel Shahverdyan, ordered Aregnaz Manukyan’s pretrial detention for two months, with a ban on visits.
The defense team filed an appeal against that decision. However, the case materials have still not been forwarded to the Criminal Court of Appeal, meaning the appeal cannot yet be considered,” he wrote.
Visits to Manukyan have been prohibited, including by her 13-year-old daughter.
Manukyan, who was detained on July 9, was placed in pretrial detention for two months later the same day on charges of disclosing information containing state secrets. The case is linked to proceedings involving Andranik Tevanyan, leader of the Mother Armenia Party, who is accused of treason and espionage.
