National Assembly Civil Contract faction member Vahagn Aleksanyan was elected Deputy Speaker of Parliament by 62 votes in favor and 27 against.
A total of 89 lawmakers participated in the vote. The Hayastan Alliance did not take part in the voting.
Another Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly is Hayk Konjoryan, a representative of the Civil Contract faction.
The opposition Strong Armenia faction will nominate Aram Vardevanyan for the post of deputy speaker. Under the law, one of the three deputy speaker positions in the National Assembly is reserved for the opposition.
Civil Contract lawmaker Ruben Rubinyan has been elected Speaker of the National Assembly.
The Civil Contract faction holds 64 seats in parliament, Strong Armenia has 29 seats, and the Hayastan Alliance holds 12 seats.
