The Armenian government has approved the distribution of apartments in a newly constructed residential building in Spitak, with 23 units to be allocated to families left homeless after the earthquake.
The decision covers the apartment distribution in the newly built residential building located at 134 Khnkoyan Street in the town of Spitak, Lori Province.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the donation of the apartments will help resolve the housing problems of families currently living in former dormitory buildings.
Under the decision, 23 of the building’s 36 apartments will be allocated to families affected by the earthquake in the disaster zone who remain homeless, are included on the approved beneficiary list, and have been physically present in Armenia for at least 183 days during the 36 months preceding the adoption of the decision.
The decision also stipulates that the donated apartments may not be sold or otherwise transferred for a period of 10 years from the date the donation agreement enters into force.
The remaining unallocated apartments will be transferred to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs’ Shelter State Non-Commercial Organization for free use as part of the social housing fund.
