Russia has not imposed restrictions on imports of Armenian products, Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Department Alexey Fadeyev said during a briefing.
He added that the current problems are related to the quality of certain Armenian products, according to RIA Novosti.
“The current difficulties affecting exports from Armenia are being portrayed as restrictions imposed by Moscow. However, it should be understood that these are not our restrictions. Armenia’s leadership has also publicly acknowledged that there are quality-related issues with certain categories of products,” Fadeyev said.
At a government meeting on July 30, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that food quality issues in Armenia require attention.
“Not to mention the quality problems. Speaking from personal experience—and I know this may spark debate—I have not eaten farm-raised fish for a long time because it is obvious there is a problem. Sometimes you handle the fish and see the fat literally running off it,” the prime minister said, adding that these are issues that require a response.
