Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has detained former lawmaker and Prosperous Armenia party parliamentary candidate Martun Grigoryan. Liza Gasparyan, head of Gyumri’s Our City faction, announced this on her Facebook page.
The Anti-Corruption Committee later said he had been detained as part of criminal proceedings initiated over an election crime, Factor.am reports.
“M.G., who was a parliamentary candidate on the Prosperous Armenia party list and has been charged in the same proceedings, was detained for the purpose of bringing him before a court to seek detention as a preventive measure within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia over an election crime,” Committee spokesperson Marina Ohanjanyan said.
Lawyer Arsen Babayan said Grigoryan had been detained for the purpose of being brought before a court.
“At this time, no other information about the criminal proceedings is known,” Babayan wrote.
