Gov’t advances Armenia-Poland defense cooperation agreement

The draft ratification of an agreement on military-technical cooperation between Armenia and Poland has been included on the agenda of the government’s September 11 meeting. Following government approval, it will be sent to the Constitutional Court, Factor.am reported.

The agreement on military-technical cooperation was signed in Warsaw on February 26, 2026, between Armenia’s Defense Ministry and Poland’s Minister of National Defense.

If the Constitutional Court finds that the obligations stipulated by the agreement comply with the Constitution, the draft will be submitted to the National Assembly under the established procedure.

The new agreement is intended to establish the basic principles and procedures governing military-technical cooperation between Armenia and Poland, based on equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.

The document regulates the areas and forms of cooperation, including issues related to the protection of classified information, the sale of military-technical products to third countries, and the activities of a joint commission to be established.

According to the government’s justification, ratification of the new agreement is consistent with the armed forces reform objectives set out in the Armenian government’s 2021-2026 program.

Until now, the legal basis for defense cooperation between Armenia and Poland has been an agreement signed in Warsaw on September 6, 2004, which Armenia’s National Assembly ratified in March 2005.
