CEC reminds voters of campaign deadline, clothing rules

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has issued a statement ahead of the October 25 local government elections, reminding participants of campaign deadlines and requirements established under electoral legislation.

The CEC also urged people to pay attention to their clothing on election day to ensure that it “cannot in any way be associated with the political forces participating in the elections.”

“Dear political parties, alliances, media outlets and organizations conducting election observation missions,

We remind you that campaigning for the October 25 local government elections ends on October 23 at 24:00 (midnight). Election campaigning is prohibited on the day preceding the vote, as well as on election day until 8:00 p.m.

Violations of this prohibition are punishable by a fine ranging from 500 to 700 times the minimum wage.

We call on everyone to comply with the regulations established under the constitutional law,” the statement said.
