The detention of former National Assembly member Martun Grigoryan has been extended by three months. The decision was made by the Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Levon Petrosyan. Liza Gasparyan, head of the Our City faction in the Gyumri Council of Elders, announced the decision, Sputnik Armenia reports.
According to the criminal case, ahead of the elections Grigoryan carried out graveling work on streets, which law enforcement authorities characterized as concealed vote-buying. Grigoryan denies the accusation, saying that, as a politician, he merely helped residents and improved damaged streets by covering them with gravel. Searches were conducted at Grigoryan’s apartment and office as part of the criminal proceedings, and he was later arrested in August 2026.
Martun Grigoryan was arrested early on August 13. The Anti-Corruption Court said he was detained as part of criminal proceedings initiated over an alleged electoral offense. He was ordered into custody for two months that same day.
Martun Grigoryan’s eldest son, Kamo Grigoryan, has also been in custody since June 22, 2026. After being wanted for about a year, he voluntarily appeared before law enforcement authorities on June 19 this year, accompanied by his lawyer, after which a court ordered him held in pretrial detention for two months. He was charged over an incident involving an argument and fight near the Hatsatun food establishment in Gyumri on June 20, 2025.
