Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II issued a congratulatory message on Independence Day, saying that amid the current difficult circumstances, it is necessary to remain united and consolidated around the homeland in order to withstand internal and external threats.
He also noted that Independence Day is an invitation to reassess the path traveled and the course of our lives.
“Today we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Armenian independent statehood. Over these years, our homeland has endured numerous trials, but our people have never been discouraged or lost hope. Even at the cost of great sacrifices, they have continued the sacred mission of building the homeland and devoted their potential to national revival.
“Today, Independence Day is an invitation for us to reassess the path we have traveled and the course of our lives. Amid the current difficult circumstances, more than ever, it is necessary to be united and remain consolidated around the homeland so that we can withstand internal and external threats. Strengthened by the significance of Independence Day, let us build and brighten our country with wholehearted dedication and, with utmost commitment and responsibility, defend our people’s right to a free and secure life on this sacred land. Let us firmly uphold the hope, faith, and love bestowed by Christ, remain faithful to our national and spiritual values, and together build a just, law-abiding, and harmonious society for the sake of our secure and bright future.
“We offer our prayers to God to preserve our homeland in peace, guide our people with the wisdom of His Holy Spirit, and grant them a prosperous and progressive life. Amen,” the message reads.
