Trump urges Rome Statute states to leave ICC

U.S. President Donald Trump urged all states that have joined the Rome Statute to immediately withdraw from the International Criminal Court. The U.S. president made the statement during his address to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Armenpress reports.

“The United States opposes the out-of-control organization known as the International Criminal Court. We will never allow American service members or anyone else to be subjected to investigation or show trials by an anti-American tribunal that has no jurisdiction over us. I call on all ICC member countries to immediately withdraw from this rogue institution,” Trump said.

The International Criminal Court was established under the Rome Statute. The statute currently has 125 states parties. Armenia became the institution’s 124th member on February 1, 2024.
